The Help- Interculture/Cross-Culture Communication

I applied Stuart Hall’s Representation Theory to examine the film The Help (2011). I analyzed key scenes, such as the “Bathroom Scene”, to highlight how segregation and racial hierarchies were reinforced through language and imagery. I also explored the relationship between Aibileen and Mae Mobley, showing how media representation can both challenge stereotypes and reinforce dominant narratives.

Using visual elements and film clips, I examined how the film encodes cultural symbols and power dynamics while considering different audience interpretations. My project emphasized the impact of storytelling on social attitudes and the importance of diverse voices in media representation.
